During the 13th century Saint Anthony of Padua preached throughout Italy with distinct power and eloquence. His sermons denounced corruption, wrongdoing and injustice. He becomes renowned as a miracle worker and a patron of the poor and oppressed. He is depicted in art with the Infant Jesus on his arm because of an episode in which a visitor described witnessing this. Saint Anthony of Padua is a Patron Saint of Lovers and Marriages. He is often called upon for Special requests, forgiveness of greed, improvement of memory and the return of lost articles.
